How to get saved – Introduction
Welcome to the how to get saved article! You are apparently looking for information on how to be saved. Salvation happens by grace through faith. When you believe and live under the law of Christ, you are saved. In other words, salvation means salvation from hell and access to eternal life together with believers and God. Next I will tell you more about what that means in practice by pointing to Bible passages.
What You Must Do to Be Saved
You Must Repent
It is of utmost importance that you also repent. I have seen preaching where repentance is not mentioned at all. However, it is a condition of salvation. Repentance must be done. It means that you stop committing intentional sin and make a change of mind. ✚Mark. 1:15, ✚Luke. 13:3, ✚Acts. 2:38, ✚Acts. 17:30.
Often “baby believers” still sin and live carnally. ✚1 Cor. 3:1–2. This is understandable and God is merciful. However, as you grow in faith and live in the Holy Spirit, intentional sins fall away and you readily repent if sin occurs.
You Must Be Born Again from Above
In order to be saved, you must also be born again from above. ✚John. 3:3-5, ✚2 Cor 5:17. This does not mean that one would have to literally be physically born again, but spiritually. In practice, a new person emerges. I myself feel that I am no longer the same person I was before. Everything is new! Everything changed – thoughts, actions, behavior, attitudes, faith and many other things. When you are born again, you will notice it. It may be that old acquaintances say that you are different and they no longer know you. You are therefore a new creation.
God gives a new heart. A circumcision of the heart takes place. ✚Rom. 2:29. It is a very concrete change that God makes. Everything is in the heart, because from there life springs. ✚Prov. 4:23, ✚Matt. 15:18–19. Jesus urges us to guard the heart. The heart is like the center of a person. It guides a person’s life.
Why Is Salvation Important?
I do not know whether I would have come to faith if I had not received the fear that without God’s grace I would end up in hell. I received a powerful conviction of sin and through that I sought out the company of believers. Later it has turned into love. Salvation is however the most important thing of all. The reward comes only after that. Salvation is above all important because without it one ends up in perdition.
And salvation means eternal paradise, where there is no pain, lies, suffering or anything evil, but perfect love of God. What is greatest, it lasts forever. Now is therefore the time to store up treasures in heaven! ✚Matt. 6:19-20.
God is merciful and love
It is important to understand that God does not merely love, but He is love. ✚1 John. 4:8. That is the nature of God. God hates sin. If one does not receive God’s love, then one receives nothing. All those who hate God love death. ✚Prov. 8:36. That is, those who are not saved would not even in their heart want to come to God.
God is also extremely merciful. Without God’s mercy I would not be writing this. Such terrible sins I committed before coming to faith and after it. God always looks at the heart. ✚1 Sam. 16:7. So if your heart is pure. ✚Matt. 5:8. and you are in faith, then all is well.
All the Sheep Will Be Saved
All of Jesus’ sheep, that is the true believers who are chosen, will be saved. Jesus knocks on the door of the heart so that He could enter. ✚Rev. 3:20. He does not force, but waits for a person to voluntarily receive Him. All the sheep have however been chosen before the foundation of the world. ✚Eph. 1:4-5. All of Jesus’ sheep will be saved. Often a person’s life may look chaotic or such that there seems to be no possibility, or no one believes that he will come to faith. However, if he is Jesus’ sheep, at some point he will repent and be saved.
What Happens to Those Who Are Not Saved
This is a serious topic. According to the Bible, those who are not saved will end up in eternal separation from the face of God. When they die they will go to Hades and ultimately to hell, where there is a lake of fire and weeping and gnashing of teeth. The Bible says that in hell there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. It is a lake of fire from which one cannot escape. ✚Matt. 10:28, ✚Mark. 9:43, ✚Rev. 20:14–15. There will go all liars, evildoers, cowards and those who do not believe.
So if you are not in faith, repent and believe the gospel!
The Gospel Explained
Problem: Sin Separates Us from God
God is perfect and holy. We humans are sinful – in our thoughts, actions and choices. This sin creates a gulf between us and God. The consequence of sin is not only physical death, but eternal separation from God.
That is why a person must repent and believe the gospel. ✚Mark. 1:15, ✚John. 3:16, ✚Acts. 16:31. It is not enough to just believe if one has not repented. Repentance is the first thing. Repentance means abandoning intentional sin and a complete change of mind. All people have sinned except Jesus, and everyone has something from which they need to repent.

Solution: God Loved Us So Much That He Did Something About It
God however sent Jesus to do what can save a person. ✚John. 3:16. Jesus, being sinless, fulfilled everything that could be fulfilled and opened the door to salvation. Jesus brought a second new covenant in place of the old covenant and it opened the door also to the Gentiles. Before that only Jews were saved. Now in the new covenant everything changed in relation to the old covenant.
Through faith in Jesus we can receive salvation that leads to eternal life! Jesus died specifically for the sake of sinners.
Assurance: Salvation Does Not Depend on Feelings
Salvation does not depend on what you feel. Sometimes feelings fluctuate and doubts come. If you are Jesus’ sheep, you can still believe that you will be saved. I myself have received prophetic words saying that I am loved by God. It is precisely the prophetic word that strengthens faith and assurance of salvation. If you receive a prophecy or words of knowledge from a strong believer who lives in the Spirit of God, you can trust that word and remain in assurance of salvation.
I myself have experienced uncertainty and unbelief. At times I doubted salvation and Christianity. God still held on and I was able to make a change of mind and gain assurance of salvation. So if you doubt, if you are Jesus’ sheep, you can trust that God will bring about a change of mind. Unbelief is one of the worst sins because it affects the entire faith. ✚Heb. 3:12. It is important to hold on to faith in every way. If you begin to doubt Christianity, I encourage you to at least keep your mouth shut so that you do not speak about it to everyone. Pray and send prayer requests, and God can restore faith to what it was.
The Way: Believe, Do Not Try to Earn It
Although faith is also followed by works, salvation comes by grace alone. It is a gift. I understand very well that many want to do good works and I strive toward that myself, but one must always remember that salvation does not come from works. ✚Eph. 2:8–9, ✚Rom. 10:9.
However, one must remember that faith without works is dead. ✚James. 2:17, ✚James. 2:26. That is, from genuine faith works automatically follow as well. This is because God works both the willing and the doing, which leads to works. So one who is filled with the Spirit does works of faith not for the sake of salvation, but because one filled with the Spirit does works received from God.
The Way: Jesus Is the Only Bridge to God
Many people believe that there are many ways to God. This is understandable and even logical. However, it is not true. There is only one way to God and that is Jesus Christ. There is no other name in which to be saved. ✚John. 14:6, ✚Acts. 4:12. What does that mean in practice? It means that even if a person were however “good” and had never done anything evil, he still cannot be saved if he does not believe in Jesus. There are many people who believe they will be saved through many religions. Christianity is not a religion, it is a faith. Religion is created by man, Christianity comes from God.
How to get saved summary
Salvation is the most important thing of all. All of Jesus’ sheep will be saved. Salvation happens by grace alone, not through works. However, faith without works is dead, so faith is also followed by works. It is not a guarantee of salvation, but all those whom the Holy Spirit leads will also come to do works.
The saved will enter eternal paradise and those without faith will according to the Bible end up in perdition. If you are not in faith, you can repent and believe the gospel and be born again. When that has happened, you are saved and on your way toward eternal life. So repent and believe the gospel!
